Conception Island

July 9-10, 2011
Conception Island is a small preserve where no one lives and the fish swim free of fear of being fished.  We anchored off the shore and enjoyed two days of swimming and snorkeling and relaxing.  The sand here is powdery fresh and there are tons of tiny little shells along the beach.  On the other side of the island from where we anchored, Runyon found a path while he was walking around the island, on the ocean side, there was a nice little reef.  The water was a bit rough, lots of waves, I swallowed plenty of salt water, we were stalked by a glittering silver, 5 foot long barracuda and Runyon saw a bull shark!  Time to go back to the calm side of the island.
On Friday (or was it Saturday?) when we arrived, we were the only ones accept for a small power boat very far away.  Then we were joined by a lovely French catamaran with a flying bridge that Runyon liked very much.  Unfortunately, by the evening of our second day, a huge yacht pulled in called the Princess Sarah.  It was a huge eye sore, and even got worse- at night, the name lit up in neon green and there were blue lights all around it and blinking lights under water.  The crazy thing is- all those lights are just for show for us to see- the guests inside can't even enjoy them!  Crazy people with money to burn I guess.  They also had a fishing boat called the Black Pearl- seriously funny it's so ridiculous.
The seagulls liked Casper- our dinghy
