Yesterday (Tuesday 7-19) we woke in turtle cove on the north shore of
Provincales island, turks and caicos. It was our third night there. In
the last two days we had:
1.rented a car and drove around (260)
2.the laundry done( losing a dress of rivers)
3.spent 600 at the grocery store
4.gone to see a really shitty transformers movie.
5.drunk lots of coffee
6.been rear ended by a hit and run driver. (1,000)
7. eaten out alot (?)
So we fueled up, paid our marina bill of $500 and left, having spent
$2,500 to $2,800 in two days. Our cruising budget is $700 a week.
Guess we blew that.
The entrance channel to turtle cove marina is among the most torturous
I’ve ever seen. Very shallow and winding through reefs and shoals.
We motored and sailed around to the south side of Provo island and
anchored in sapodilla bay (21.44.52 N, 72.17.21 W). We left there this
morning at 7:30 am, headed to south caicos island… 47 nm away across
the caicos banks. Ivy is sleeping in the cockpit. River is reading on the
aft cushions and I am watching a consistent depth of 10 to 11 feet glide
by, leaving us 4 feet under the keel.
