(Satellite phone update) 8:30pm: 31deg 2'N, 77deg 33'W, sailing S at 2.3 knots.
Winds and currents are from the S. Tried to sail, but with winds and currents on the nose we were unable to make southerly progress, so are currently motoring.
It was so beautiful and we were feeling so good that we put the boat in ideal and jumped into the water. Clinging on to a life line, we enjoyed the refreshing water, it was chilly at the first touch but felt amazing once we were totally in. It's a little unsettling swimming 6000 feet of water, but there is pretty much no sea life to freak me out.
Took down the genoa to hand sew some of the worn edges. The genoa is stuck on part of the roller furling and we had to stitch it up while it was still half up. This made the task really hard since the wind caught on it and Ivy had to hold it still so Runyon could sew it. The more I checked the edges, the more unraveled parts I found and the more we stitched it up. We've got two palms on board- leather straps we put on our hands so we can shove the needle through the thick sail. We re-hoisted the sail and kept moving. Slowly running out of waxed thread.
